Every religion can have something to disagree with without the correct understanding. So I choose to find my own spiritual path rather than follow someone else's. That is the difference between spirituality and religion. Granted most of my spiritual principals come from many religions combined just as every religion can be disagreeable there is something in every religion to live by.
@Blaise - Islam in today's world has a huge misunderstanding in the way people actually think about it. We are not saying that some man just started making a religion. Islam was sent by God Almighty, through the Angel Gabriel, to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). So with that being said it is not just some individual saying what comes to his mind. No on the contrary, the author of the Qur'an is God Himself. So when you say you choose not to follow someone elses path, I would have assumed that you already knew who Muslims believe the author of the Qur'an is? You are right in saying many religions have things that you may disagree with and agree with. But you see one important thing Islam taught me is not to take anything from any other religion. Not one. Because this religion is from God Almighty, and frankly every other one I know of is man made.
@Laura. I see that and that is the way life has been ordained for you. If you choose to follow your own relationship with your god then that is fine. But I choose to follow a prophet. The Last and Final Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Someone who was chosen by God Almighty for a great purpose. Someone who was very close to God and had his own personal relationship with Him. A man of great character. I choose to follow him because I have found out that Islam is the only way. But I am not here to change what others believe, I am only a warner.
